At the end of World War II, the German army attempted to oppose, on the Gothic Line, a lasting resistance to the inexorable advancement of allied troops. The events that upset the population and the lands on which the system of German fortifications had been erected left in 1944 and 1945 indelible signs on the ground and in the memory. The three young authors who grew up in the shade of those places cultivated and developed since childhood a single passion: to seek and collect everything that belonged to the soldiers who fought on the Gothic Line. In years of patient and meticulous research, with the help of metal detectors, they have collected a multitude of personal equipment items directly on the battlefield, which are shown to the public through hundreds of color images. It will be precisely through the description of these objects that will be proposed to the reader the reconstruction of the daily lives of the soldiers who, for long months and between multiple sufferings, confronted themselves entrenched on those mountains.
